Think of it as a makeup bag in a single product.

When it comes to skin care, consumers will be looking for more multi-tasking products in 2011 and 2012, according to experts speaking at HBA’s 2011 educational conference series.

Speaking at the “Skin Care Market Trends for 2011, 2012 and Beyond” session yesterday at the Javits Center, Kendra Kolb Butler, vice president of marketing and communications for Dr. Dennis Gross Skin Care, said be on the lookout for more skin care products that address multiple issues and concerns in a single swipe.

According to Butler, “BB creams”—aka blemish balms or beauty balms—will become more popular in the coming years. Initially used as a treatment after laser surgery, these skin care products pack a powerful punch—foundation, concealer, moisturizer, acne medication and SPF in one—and are already popular in Asian markets.

Brands already in the space stateside include Boscia (B.B. Cream SPF 27), Dr. Jart (Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25) and MAC (Prep + Prime Beauty Balm), but expect others to pop up on retailer’s shelves soon.
